CINE20 - 157^ PUNTATA

Centocinquantasettesima puntata per CINE20 ed apriamo tuffandoci nel passato con la rece del reboot cinematografico de le Tartarughe Ninja.
A seguire il buon Kusa ci porta dentro le news di una settimana un po' fiacca della quale si salvano unicamente il nuovo film di Ciprì, La Buca, e Posh di Lone Scherfig.
Niente di rilevante in arrivo nei negozi.

SVENDITA MERCENARI

Difficile parlare male de I Mercenari 3, soprattutto quando è innegabile la bontà delle intenzioni nella mente di Sylvester Stallone quando pensò di far avverare il sogno di tutti gli appassionati di cinema action, riunendo in un’unica pellicola volti noti, vecchi e più recenti, che hanno reso unico il genere. Arrivati però al terzo film del franchise, è evidente che qualcosa si è perso per strada: se era inevitabile, anche di fronte ad una sceneggiatura impeccabile, riuscire a dare spazio a tutti i nomi coinvolti, costringendone alcuni a brevi ma pregevoli cameo, quello che non poteva mancare era l’azione adrenalinica e un senso dell’ironia preciso e tagliente. Ed infatti tutto questo era ben presente nel primo film e anche nel suo seguito. I Mercenari 2 però cominciò a far sentire qualche scricchiolio nella fondamenta causato dal passaggio di testimone alla regia da Stallone a Simon West, e dall’ aggiunta superflua di qualche “rookie” di cui non si sentiva il bisogno. Ne I Mercenari 3, purtroppo, quello scricchiolio assume il fragore di un crollo dalle fondamenta ed i motivi sono fondamentalmente due, regia e cast. Dietro la macchina da presa siede Patrick Hughes, curriculum da mestierante cosa che, dal lato pratico, si vede nella totale incapacità di enfatizzare l’azione (che c’è, fin dai primi minuti, ma non lascia nulla). Il parco attori conta qualche defezione ma si allarga con quattro nomi nuovi e nuovi volti che dovrebbero rappresentare in qualche modo un ricambio generazionale per il cinema action. Peccato che il loro contributo sia talmente marginale e superfluo che risulta davvero difficile ricordarsi quale ruolo abbiano avuto nel film (eccezion fatta per Ronda Rousey). Cosa diversa accade con le “vecchie leve” nelle cui fila si aggiungono Antonio Banderas (il migliore di tutti), un bollito Harrison Ford e un Mel Gibson nelle vesti del villain di turno. Gli altri fanno più o meno quello che hanno fatto nelle due precedenti pellicole e, neanche a farlo di proposto, è Stallone a ritagliarsi la battuta più bella di tutto il film. Baracca e burattini, insomma, salvati sul filo del rasoio dalle solite facce, segnate dal tempo ma sempre rassicuranti. Il nuovo non è ancora capace di imporsi, non in un progetto simile che celebra il classico, e pertanto voler provare anche a proporre un ricambio generazionale nuoce ad un film che avrebbe avuto bisogno di una maggiore solidità in regia e in fase di scrittura. Sarà per la prossima volta, speriamo.

TRANSFORMERS 4 ovvero La totale mancanza di senso della misura

La saga cinematografica dei Transformers ha rappresentato fin dal principio una vera e propria croce e delizia per tutti i trentenni / quarantenni di oggi ma anche per gli appassionati dell' action becero e sozzone tipico di Hollywood. Ma d'altronde non è che potesse essere diversamente considerato che il progetto nasce dallo sfruttamento dei famosi giocattoli della Hasbro e da un regista che, se esistesse il regno dei tamarri, ne sarebbe sovrano indiscusso: Michael Bay. Michael Bay, ogni volta che si è trovato per le mani i Trasformers, anche a causa di sceneggiature difficili da definirsi tali, ha dimostrato di non possedere il senso della misura, di strafare in un senso o in un altro: una volta per l'eccessivo taglio comico dato al film ed un'altra per un diffuso caos nelle sequenza d'azione. La situazione sembrava cambiare con il terzo film considerato anche la repentina svolta nelle atmosfere a partire dalla seconda metà della pellicola. Lecito quindi aspettarsi tanto da questo quarto capitolo che in qualche modo si propone come un nuovo punto di partenza per la saga senza essere necessariamente un reboot. Si parte insomma cinque anni dopo la fine del film precedente con cast rinnovato e con l'intenzione, piuttosto esplicita, di allargare ed approfondire il passato dei Transformers dando nuovo respiro alla storia ma soprattutto giustificando ulteriori seguiti. Se l'apporto degli attori in carne ed ossa continua ad essere superfluo ma meno fastidioso rispetto al passato, il principale difetto del film risiede proprio in una sceneggiatura che, a dispetto di una struttura semplicissima (si va da A a B. Da B a C e subito da C a D), si sviluppa su tre ore francamente logoranti anche considerata l'eccezionale spettacolarità della pellicola. Perchè se c'è una cosa che non manca in Trasformer 4 è l' apporto di Michael Bay quando si tratta di mostrare i muscoli e di far vedere al suo pubblico cosa si può fare con le giuste idee ed un adeguato budget: i robot sono gli indiscussi protagonisti e le sequenze d'azione in cui sono coinvolti rappresentano esattamente quello che si vorrebbe vedere sul grande schermo da un film così, inclusi dinosauri robot e robot che cavalcano dinosauri robot. Fatto sta però che, esaurito l' effetto meraviglia, si rimane con l'idea che lo spettacolo sia più vuoto di quel che poteva e doveva essere, soprattutto con un minutaggio così abbondante e francamente ingiustificato. Ma sempre di un certo tipo di spettacolo si tratta, perfettamente coerente ed onesto con il genere, pertanto tutto si traduce con un semplice "prendere o lasciare".

CINE20 - 156^ PUNTATA

Non è perfetto ma commuove ed emoziona l'addio al cinema del Maestro Miyazaki che recensiamo in apertura di questa puntata di CINE20. 
Insieme al buon Kusa poi esploriamo le uscite della settimana dove l'unico titolo che ci desta un po' d'interesse sono le Tartarughe Ninja prodotte da Michael Bay, il che dice tutto. 
Ancora Miyazaki nell' home video con l' uscita della muova edizione di Principessa Monoke.

CINE20 - 155^ PUNTATA

Per questa nuova puntata di CINE20 tornano i mercenari ma il franchise prende una deriva che non ci piace per niente.
In sala il buon Kusa ci consiglia Si Alza il Vento di Hayao Miyazaki ma arriva anche The Protector 2 di Prachya Pinkaew.
La notiziona della sezione home video dovrebbe essere l' uscita di The Raid 2 ma la poca chiarezza sul formato video ci lascia con qualche pesante perplessità.

Torna CINE20 dopo la rigenerante pausa estiva e lo fa con due recensioni del buon Kusa e le news in sala di questa prima settimana di settembre, tra le quali spiccano il ritorno de I Mercenari e Frances Ha di Noah Baumbach.

Per il nostro centocinquantesimo appuntamento il buon Kusa propone ben due recensioni (Stories We Tell e The Lego Movie) mentre il sottoscritto vi espone quel che potete trovare in sala, una selezione di insulse commedie ed un horror che ispira poca fiducia. Il ritorno del RE dei MOSTRI

Gioite e tremate, il Re dei Mostri è tornato! Riportato in superficie dall' esuberante spettacolarità di Pacific Rim, è pronto a riprendersi il posto d' onore che giustamente gli spetta e che di certo non poteva conquistare grazie al trascurabile film di Roland Emmerich che di suo aveva solo il nome e forse nient'altro: Godzilla. Perchè tenere il nome ma privarlo di tutto il background costruito in tanti film è pratica consueta e sintomatica di un cinema americano privo di idee ma sempre pronto a sfruttare quelle degli altri riducendole però ai minimi termini. Nonostante questo Godzilla è tornato, ancora sotto bandiera americana ma questa volta diretto da Gareth Edwards. Regista forse sconosciuto ai più, Edwards ha esordito qualche anno fa proprio con un atipico moster movie (proprio dal titolo "Mosters") che rifletteva sulle condizioni dell' immigrazione tra Messico e Stati Uniti. Qui però c'è davvero poco su cui riflettere visto che gli intenti di questo nuovo film del mostro giapponese sono quelli basilari che si prefigge il grande cinema d'intrattenimento americano, tanti effetti speciali e personaggi dalle storie trite e ritrite che servono solo a fare minutaggio o, al massimo, a riempire i vuoti tra una fugace apparizione dei mostri e l'altra, cosa che costantemente ruba l' attenzione a tutto il resto. E si parla di "mostri", al plurale, non a caso. Configurandosi quindi come il più classico blockbuster made in Hollywood, con tutti gli evidenti e non trascurabili difetti del caso, il film di Gareth Edwards è comunque estremamente divertente e anche sorprendentemente coraggioso nel restituire al Mostro le sue origini, omaggiando in tanti modi e con tanti dettagli, quel che ha reso famosi i suoi vecchi, vecchissimi film. L' uomo è insignificante (di conseguenza lo sono anche quasi tutte le scene con protagonisti gli attori e non i mostri) ed il vero nemico di Godzilla sono altre creature che come lui ingaggiano una lotta per la supremazia che noi abbiamo perso in partenza.
